For a contemporary service, the Lay Reader leads in the reading of the Psalm, and will read the Gospel lesson for the day. For a traditional service, the Lay Reader will read the three appointed lessons for the day. Being involved in the worship service allows the Lay Reader to add to Immanuel’s worship life and enhances and deepens a personal sense of commitment. The Spirit can also use this involvement to produce growth in faith. Any confirmed member is invited to participate. Time commitment: Assignments are made at the beginning of each Quarter (e.g., January – March). The Lay Reader can expect to be assigned to one or two services for that period.
